‘Tis the season

It just wouldn’t be the holidays without a heaping helping of disheartening crime in Sacramento. While PS3 mayhem is so last week, never fear as we’ve had our first Salvation Army robbery.

Sacramento police are still looking for a group of teens who robbed a Salvation Army bell ringer at knife point during the noon hour Friday outside a grocery store.

That’s noon, people, as in post meridiem. I think that is what is really shocking about crime these days. There really is no safe time to be out and about…however, kudos to the victim in this particular incident.

The 31-year-old victim just started working full-time for the organization on Monday, making $7.50 an hour.

“This is something to try and get on my feet so I can put a few dollars in my pocket and just so I can have some money so I can eat and pay my bills and everything,” said Trepagnier.

The incident is one of many in a long list of hardships Trepagnier has gone through in the past several years including an accident during a military tour in Iraq with the U.S. Army.

“I was in field artillery and we flipped over a few times and I started having seizures after that,” said Trepagnier.

You see, rather than go wait in line to pick up a PS3 to hock on eBay, this fellow decided to, you know, find a job and stuff to pay his bills. Good on ya, man.

For such a crime, one might make the “Stay classy, Sacramento” plea, but “Get some class, Sacramento” might be more appropriate.
