Kevin Johnson will announce Wednesday evening that he will challenge incumbent Heather Fargo in the Sacramento mayor’s race, Johnson’s campaign officials confirmed.

Johnson, a Sacramento landowner and developer who was an all-star basketball player at the University of California and with the Phoenix Suns in the NBA, founded St. HOPE, the nonprofit organization that runs Sacramento Charter High School. But does anyone really think that KJ has any idea of what it takes to be a Mayor? That he has any understanding of the issues facing the City and the State? Or the complex and often contentious relationship between the City and the State? Not to mention how the County and SACOG fit into the picture... I guess I'd just like to see candidates who have some experience or background in local politics or activism rather than candidates who simply have the funds and PR machine to run a campaign.
