KSAC 1240? Is that the station that had Christine Craft as a talk show host? I thought it had different call letters. I listened to her show a few times, then I lost interest in it. Christine Craft talked about gardening and about how getting dirt from the ground into your fingernails was good for your skin. She said something about beneficial bacteria, or something like that.

There was a radio station that I think Al Franken owned. A talk show host, (Edith Goldstein?), would push democratic candidates by calling the republican candidates names. (doodoo Doolittle)

Lynn: KCTC was Sacramento’s Air America station (the station owned by Al Franken). KCTC and KSAC are not the same station.

Christine Craft did air on KSAC, but was replaced with another show in her timeslot sometime back in October.

KGO is left-leaning. It’s 810 on the dial. It has had a talk format for a long time: about twenty-five or thirty years. I listen to it on a radio: the signal comes in clearly. Christine Craft is a fill-in host on the station. I think she’s going to be on this week, at 10 in the evening.

The Sacramento Bee and the San Francisco Chronicle are left-leaning.

All of the local TV stations are left-leaning. (Chris Burrous is the exception: he wants a mayor who will “crack-down” on the homeless). I think most people are influenced by what they see and hear on TV. Are there that many people who listen to talk radio?

Also, all illegal drugs should be made legal. (I don’t take any drugs: illegal or legal). Instead of trying to protect drug addicts from themselves, police should spend their time protecting those people who want, and need, protection from others.

Kelly What’s-her-name, the owner of the station formerly known as KSAC, blames Sacramento Democrats for not supporting her station and finds Gospel a relief, as though a great weight was lifted off her shoulders.

The problem is the station owner, not the format. If you have a product it needs to be SOLD, you can’t sit back and hope for buyers. She didn’t sell the product, plain and simple. Any aggressive, go-getting marketer/salesperson could have gotten FAT selling ad-space on KSAC.

The reason KSAC is gone is simple. Large corporations use large advertising corporations to buy advertising for them. These ad agencies don’t buy ad time on progressive stations due to the fact that they tend to expose the corruption of the large corporations. The ratings at KSAC were actually good, but they got squeezed by the mega media conglomerates. Maybe progressive talk needs to go non-profit like NPR?

All of the local TV stations had left-leaning news about the effect of the budget cuts on public schools. There was one mother at a school board meeting who said that her child was frightened at the thought of being in a class with thirty-five students. That’s fear-mongering. That was on Fox TV. Then there was video of first graders demonstrating for more money for public schools with signs that said “prop 98.” I think that was shown on channel 13. Why would corporations care about those types of news stories?

The Bee’s stories are always pro-illegal immigration. Corporations are pro-illegal immigration because of the money they save from hiring cheap labor. The cost of educating illegles and paying for illegal’s health care is a huge financial burden on the state, but the Bee never has those types of articles.

The USA has horrendously bad karma. If the American people do not accept {elect} this undeserved divine gift of wonderful Barack Obama… then we are DOOMED to a terrible fate!

But, the Illuminati Republican *DieBold* voting machine manufacturers could rig many voting machines to register your vote as for the republican candidate… not matter who you vote for… just like they did for Bush. ~::~

It’s a real shame that KSAC is gone. I listen to both Progressive and Conservative radio and I LOVED having both available to listen to. I will really miss hearing the balance of the two.

Is there ANY other Progressive radio around here now? Anyone know?

The Progressive Radio Station ‘AIR AMERICA’ can be listened to 24/7 … all the time from above link.

Just locate ‘AIR AMERICA’ in the right~hand long list of MANY radio stations… click on the ’streaming icon’ next to its name… if you *Minimize* the page after the Player comes up… the Player will move to the Icon bar at the bottom of your computer screen. You can keep it set on ‘AIR AMERICA’ in your Icon bar all the time… and turn it off and on. Bookmark the above link that I gave you. There are *Many* other Progressive radio stations to experiment with and listen to.

{On your regular radio or boom~box you might be able to get KGO 810 AM… which airs out of San Francisco… it is relatively Progressive.} ~::~

~::~ SacTalks… ‘AIR AMERICA’ is the 4th radio station listed in the top of the list on the right~hand side of the website. Find it… and *Click* on the letters ‘WM’ … that are next to the name. The Windows Media Player will then come up. After it loads Minimize it. It then can stay in the Icon bar at the bottom of your computer screen. Enjoy Listening!

The 4th listing at the right, is the only one there which will get you ‘AIR AMERICA’ easily.

Thanks, Guru for the advice on radio stations. I will check that out when I’m in the office. Usually I’m driving all about the County and do most of my radio listening in the car. So I’ll check out the KGO 810 personalities. Just a quick perusal of their website doesn’t excite me for some really good Progressive radio, but I’ll give some of them a chance.

This is yet another example of the “One Party” system Vidal, Chomsky and others have been talking about for years. Democrats and Republicans in power talk about fundamental differences but behave essentially the same in office. Both are financed, supported and driven by large corporations, who also control the majority of ‘news’ (information) outlets. All the while, the FCC allows more consolidation into fewer hands, making it harder for small, local and independent sources to survive. The net effect is a narrowly focused, highly controlled message given to the masses. It should be no surprise, as this country has a long history of creating and maintaining a confused, docile, and largely uninformed public. How else can one explain the Iraq war; supported by both parties, still churning along at $341.4 million per day, ‘sold’ to the public with a complete fabrication of facts (that all major ‘news’ outlets happily reported without investigation), etc. If the government and so-called journalism folks can sell a phony war, what else do you suppose they do?
