the Sac Rag

Sacramento News, Gossip & Snark

If you live here, you'll know...

Hodně štěstí, Lisa and Todd!

Posted July 3, 2008 at 11:03 AM by Stickie in Local Media, Sac Bee (20 comments)

The Sacramento News and Review reports today that SacBee writers Lisa Heyamoto and Todd Milbourn will be packing up their lives and moving to Prague. The pair claims that they are following their desires to live in Europe, but we at the SacRag know the truth… The SacBee staff refuses to accept our generous offer for a pub quiz rematch as they are afraid of another trouncing, and are opting to flee the continent to save face. We think you are cowards, but wish you the best, regardless.

Don’t forget to Czech out this Web site (Ha, get it? So clever!)

Good for them! They should listen to a lot of Europe to prepare for living on that continent; at least, that’s what Fodor’s recommends.

Lisa & Todd, let us know if you’d like a proper Sacramento send-off, SacRag style (i.e. Pub Quiz rematch.)

Or this one. They look like a Hanson/Christian Siriano trio:

I predict after six months, they’ll be singing this tune (Lisa and Todd, I mean. Not Europe)

Why don’t we join forces for a pub quiz, thereby nearly guaranteeing victory and the drinking money that goes with it?

As part of our globetrotting we plan to prove, once and for all, that the country with the longest coastline is in fact Australia, not Canada. We’re bringing a tape measure.

So, was this a surprise to your coworkers? How did Scoopy take it? (By the way, Scoopy has yet to confirm me as a friend on Facebook. Would you mind asking him why? I stumbled across his profile last week, and sac-eats concurred that Scoopy is indeed my friend — given our photo together at the State Fair last year.)

Hey, I was as glad as any Sac Ragger when you guys thumped the Bee in the pub quiz, but did you have to humiliate them so bad they’d leave town?

I liked Heyamoto’s column, but I guess this is just yet another sign the Bee is going down like the Hindenburg. Oh the humanity! For the first time in decades I’m questioning whether I want to continue subscribing to the local paper. If it weren’t for Mark Trail…

Scoopy must read The Sac Rag. We’re friends now! :) Maybe I’ll challenge him to Scrabulous. Yay.

Suggestions for questions? The other quizzers hate it when you guys go for the challenge because I make ‘em harder. The questions, the questions I mean! Gutterminds!

How about these Categories:
Local Wine
The History Of Left-Leaning Daily Newspapers In Sacramento
Trail Running Tips
Know Your Paragarys
Couples Whose First Dates Were At Streets Of London Pub Quiz
Prague.

I think I’ll bring tranny porn this week.

Who else is in? So far it seems to be Sac-Eats, Stickie, and me (not that we don’t make a great team.) The more the merrier — if you’re a regular reader/commenter who happens to be there, be sure to say “yo” to us — you’ll be able to recognize Stickie & Sac-Eats by their profile photos, and I’ll be the one who looks like Snow White.

Results!

3rd place — The Sacramento Bee: 27
2nd place — The Sac Rag: 29
1st place — Drink Tank: 29 + tie breaker question (How many 1″ diameter gum balls are in one pound?)

It was great seeing the Bee folks, once again! It’s always a friendly competition, and we’ll miss Lisa & Todd! We look forward to future friendly duels (or perhaps cooperative efforts) with Carla, Carlos, Dorothy, et al.

Boo-ya!

Apologies to my team for my fuzzy math on the tie-breaker. Beautiful, green, fragrant fuzzy math.
