I do not approve of animal cruelty, spousal abuse, or child abuse, and I think that people who do those things should be punished. Thank you for the comment!

CDMZ and BHD: If I understand you, you are willing to overlook a little “animal cruelty” and little “spousal abuse” here and there, as long as the pro sports teams are winning? Nice. I suppose a teacher could “abuse a few kids” every once in a while, as long as the test grades were good? I love that idea! Maybe people with really high paying jobs could run over the homeless with no penalty (heck- even a reward?).

No level of “talent” (uh- droping a ball in a net is a talent?) can ever justify such acts. The fact that he wasn’t immedately suspended from the league shows where the priorities are. The fact that some fans continue to support the league show just how misplaced their priorities are. Go ahead- keep wasting your money and emotions on “pro sports.” But don’t think you’ll ever get a penny outta me for your arena without a big fight- and this is why.

Yeah I get that this is a rebuilding trade… but we’re giving up 2 of those young players to get 1 back plus another draftee. And I guess giving Artest time to actually play, his value might have dropped… I don’t know, trades never make sense to me anyway.

CoolDMZ, the considerations go deeper than that. Petrie’s looking longer term, trying to rebuild the team back to contendership, and the way to do that is with lots of good young players. Some will wash out, no doubt, but enough will be good enough to make the team much better in the long run. The odds were (there I go again with the betting thing) that Ron would have walked after this season barring a trade and the Kings would then be left with nothing in return.

Great post, bhd. As usual I have no idea what I’m talking about but this trade seems incredibly lopsided… up front, one C-list vet and 1 rookie for one B-list vet and 2 rookies? Not even I would make that trade in fantasy basketball. Unless it included cash like the real one does.

“Loyalty” to a pro sports team these days is like loyalty to one shopping mall over another: Stupid, stupid, stupid (unless rooted in convienence, but then its not emotional), and pointless. Both the players and the “sports teams” let their dollars do the exclusive deciding, and so should you. Root for whomever’s tickets are cheapest.

I will not miss Artest’s abuse of animals and his spouse in my backyard. Let him go kill animals in another state.
