When longtime Bee columnist R.E. Graswich left his post, you assume it was for greener pastures. And now I realize it was for a greener pasture, a verdant meadow, and a lilac-filled prarie as well… First it was Sac Mag, and SacMag.com, and then more recently it was The Scoop on CBS13. And then on Friday afternoon I heard him doing the afternoon news on KFBK with Kitty O’Neal. Will you soon be able to order up Graswich in any fashion that suits you? A Graswich flavor at Vic’s perhaps? A Graswich roll at Kru? Graswich On Demand?
Maybe R.E. can comment here about what would be in his scoop at Vic’s…

Ouch indeed… Sam McManis blogs today about Curtis Carroll, a West Sac resident whose number is one digit away from the main line at CBS13/CW31.
he has recorded the following outgoing message on his home-answering machine:
If you thought you reached Channel 13 or Channel 31, home of adolescent anchoring, juvenile journalism and the worst newscast in the state, you didn’t. You got that number wrong. If you got the right number, leave a message. Thanks.
Why don’t you just tell me the name of the reporter you’d like to scream obscenities at…

Didja catch CBS13’s report last night on “Sac Town Raw”…
A local film producer is releasing a very controversial video showing Sacramento teenage girls engaged in vicious fights. It’s called “Sac Town Raw”.
CBS13 spoke with the producer and he says it may be shocking but he’s only reporting what he calls ‘Urban News’.

Sam Shane
is their leader
Oddly enough I can almost hear CBS13 giving a similar defense to my postings… CBS boldly went on to question whether the videos were even legal, talking to several law enforcement officials who had to admit that unless the video was of an assault (i.e. if the participants are not willing) that the videos were technically not illegal.

CBS13 last night reported a story about a local mom who left her baby in the car seat, covered by a blanket, while she went shopping. Parents in the audience, and also anyone with a pulse and a lick of common sense, are duly horrified. Fortunately the baby is safe and the mom is out on bail. Somehow the baby was allowed to return home with mom–apparently this is a possibility if authorities determine it’s okay.
But to CBS13, the real story is at the perp’s house. Continue reading “CBS13: Watch your back, Sacramento” »

No, they didn’t insult Geddy Lee’s singing voice… (I’m all about the one-two punch dot-dot-dot opener today. I’m also all about trashing CBS13 apparently…)
I’m talking about this incredibly weird story involving CBS13, Rush Limbaugh, Wikipedia, Barack Obama, the Hobbits of the Shire, and an invisible rabbit….

Or is it CBS13.com? Or is it just CBS13.com (the show) or CBS13.com (the website)? I don’t even know anymore…
Yesterday’s news out of Riverbank about an entire family killed in a collision with an Amtrak train is truly frightening. The stuff of nightmares. CBS13’s led with this story all day, with Mike Dello Stritto and Serene Branson on scene.
A fatal accident on the highway in central California. Remind you of anything? I think it reminded CBS13 of the problems Solano residents are having with Highway 12, and they decided to run with that. Dello Stritto continued to report from the scene at the 11:00 newscast, even though it was pitch black outside and so the crossing arm he pointed to could have been anywhere. He tossed back to Sam and Pallas who… tossed back out to Serene Branson, standing seemingly a few feet away from Dello Stritto to report on another angle of the story. Awk-waaard.
And then they call K-Ming. Continue reading “Makin’ controversies at CBS13″ »

Document Dump has some “screen shots” — unfortunately no video at CBS13.com — of Saturday night’s painful Sports Show (As opposed to all the other painful ones…) with Arran Andersen and Gary Gelfand in costumes inspired by the new movie “Blades of Glory”..
The trick CBS13 missed that might have redeemed this idea (might) would have been having Andersen not in costume… Gelfand opens, explains the costume, then throws it back to Arran in the studio who pretends to be in costume… “Yeah, these tights are really riding up…” but the joke is on Gelfand (as it usually is).

Gary Gelfand, The Sports Show
cbs13.com
The only redeeming feature of “The Sports Show,” CBS13’s new half-hour sports show featuring Arran Andersen and Gary Gelfand, is that it occasionally features sports footage. While I originally thought this show had premiered in September (based on reporting of its original launch date on 21Q), I managed to completely by chance catch the premiere broadcast on Friday night. (Hat tip to new reader anaughtymouse)
Let me start with the inexcusable logo, which is either a blatant ripoff of The Man Show’s logo, or a cheap reference to that show’s logo (see what I’m talking about in the lower right corner of the screenshot). Either way, seriously, that’s all you’ve got?

For those of you who read The Sac Rag before you sign off for the night, I wanted to share this tidbit from our friends at Runaway Stage Productions:
News FLASH! (pardon the pun), If you have not yet seen RSP’s current hit show “The Full Monty,” actors from this exciting popular musical are scheduled to appear live on Channel 31’s Good Day Sacramento this Friday morning, September 15th during the 7:00 and 8:00 hours. Lots of music, interviews and a strip lesson for Mark S. Allen! Check it out and then be sure to get your tickets for “The Full Monty” before it’s too late!
Friends, I have seen the show (in all its glory, one might say), so I’m not just plugging a friend’s project. This is a fun show with heart and a lot of energy and I say it’s worth checkin out.

It is always the children who are affected the most.
Good Day Sacramento has been in quite the transition this summer. First, it was the move of their set over to CBS13’s locale. Fortunately, the transition went off relatively smooth. One wonders however, the stress this put on Good Days’ own 40+ year old child, Mark S. Allen.
As the CoolOne brought to you some days ago, MSA was recently pulled over at the airport by the County cops, on the suspicion of being drunk. This morning, the “on-scene” reporter at the Cal Expo plant sale intimated that there were “special plants in the back” for MSA that the reporter could not identify on the air. Not to mention the fact that other Good Day personalities are exposing themselves in public…what’s going on over there? Are these desperate cries for help?
While it wouldn’t surprise anyone if MSA was in fact drunk or had some kind of problem with narcotics (perhaps he’s ODing on teeth bleach), could his turning to the bottle be a symptom of more than just a man in his 40s who still shops at Pacific Sunwear in a version of Peter Pan Syndrome?
I submit to you, dear reader, that there is something more going on.
