We’re 2 now, so we talk like it. That’s right, today marks the 2nd birthday of this here Web log! According to Wordpress, “There are currently 1,128 post and 4,599 comments, contained within 83 categories.”
I have recently realized that there are more “Sac Rag people” than I can name offhand and I love that. And there are new ones every day. I think it’s a great place to be and I see us growing by leaps and bounds this year. I’m sure I speak for all my compatriates when I say that being part of The Sac Rag is one of the most fun things I’ve ever done. Thanks to all the readers for making it a fun 2 years.

Lately we’ve been getting a lot of “I don’t know where to put this” comments, from document dumping to appointment TV spoilers, so I’ve decided to dust off an old idea and reintroduce The Rag Board, a community forum. This time it’s powered by bbPress, a robust forum software built by the WordPress people.
Sign up today and start posting. Feel free to send me ideas for new Forums, though the 3 existing ones should give us enough fuel for a while. I’m making a goal of 30 discussions going by the end of April. Have fun!

Anybody know a good copyright lawyer out there? I can’t tell but I think The Sac Rag’s copyright is being infringed by “ralph myree,” registered owner of “Free Traffic Counter” which as pictured is reprinting an article by sac-eats without attributing it to our site. However, the link for “Original post” does point to our post. Is there a name for this type of site? I assume it is just built to generate Adsense revenue. Maybe I’ll sue Google too, for allowing its service to be used in such a manner!

Yes, I know it’s a national chain, but who doesn’t like Chipotle? If you go dressed as a Chipotle burrito, burrito bol, or salad tomorrow (Halloween), you’ll get a free burrito.
Of course, you’ll probably spend more on the materials needed to make yourself look like one of these food products than you’d spend on a burrito should you go dressed as a civilian, but hey — let’s show some Halloween spirit here.

By the way, authors and commenters alike: The system does appear to know that you’re logged in, it just doesn’t tell you that. No matter what you put for your “Name” in the comment form, if you’re logged in, it’s going to use your display name.
Any frequent commenters who haven’t already (and that’s all but one of you)… go ahead and register for a subscriber account and lock in that screen name!

The good people of Sacramento have demonstrated their..err.. exquisite taste and sophistication (?!) by selecting the SacRag as Best Local Blog in the News and Review’s annual Best of Issue, tying with Heckasac and decidedly kicking the shit out of the extremely weak Mark Williams Radio Show Blog.
Congrats to our writers and thanks to all our readers, fans and detractors!

WordPress in the house. If anybody finds anything wrong or missing email me at cooldmz-at-sacrag.com.
Oh, and obviously the first person to comment on the Wordpress site gets a fun prize…

All squirty tips must go, half off. I’m taking The Sac Rag to the WordPress platform this weekend, which will take care of that nasty timeout problem on the comment script that we’re experiencing with Movable Type. This is pretty big for me, as I’ve been a Movable Type customer since 2000.
What this means for you is that I’m going to universally turn off comments before I leave work today, and move all content up to that point to the new system. The design will be the same for now, but there will be neat WordPress enhancements, especially “Subscriber” level registration for readers which will mean you can create a login that will follow you as you browse and post comments (no more typing your name and email, it’ll say “You’re logged in as so and so.” Somebody should signup for an account as “so and so.”)
UPDATE: Comments are now off. Check back soon for your new Wordpress version.

I don’t think it’s taking too much liberty to wish our fearless leader CoolDMZ and his fearless leader Mrs. CoolDMZ a happy anniversary as they celebrate 5 amazing years of marriage today. Let the Bastille Day comparisons begin!

I’ve had it with chains. Done. Finished. If I have to eat bark and leaves in lieu of chains, so be it.
Everything started to slide a few months ago after I got sick eating at Claim Jumper and BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse for two different birthday celebrations. It may sound rude, yes, but I told my significant other that I won’t be attending any more occasions held at these kind of establishments. (And if I do, it’s drinks only.)
After a disastrous dining experience at Strings on Friday night, I found myself yet again at a chain for on Saturday night for dinner with my SO’s family. This time it was the Cheesecake Factory on Arden Way.
