I visited the Tutti Frutti Yogurt shop today after lunch in West Sacramento. I’ve been to many of these places as they have popped up all over Sacramento, but this one really goes for the jugular in the portions department. The photo here is their smallest cup. I may use it as my dog’s water bowl.
I was given a coupon which informed me that by eating their yogurt I will strengthen my immune system, improve my mineral absorption, reduce my blood pressure & cholesterol, and, most importantly, will prevent me from having diarrhea and bloating! Man, eating healthy has never been so much fun.
Joking aside, the yogurt was pretty good, the toppings fresh, and the environment clean and inviting. I’ll go back.

The scale to weigh your purchase is set to “zero.” Ever wonder how much the cup weighs without any yogurt in it? The cup you are purchasing at how much per ounce? Good thing it can be reused for a while as a dog’s water bowl!

But the operators of these froyo places are a touchy breed. They get really pissed when you dispense the yogurt into your cupped hands, and then dump it onto their scale for weighing.

I would rather have the weird IKEA desserts… Since I’d be waaay over there. I could buy a bookcase while I was there. Or a plant.

@Glenn, there are regulatory bodies on weights and measures to ensure that the tare (weight of container) is not calculated in the price per weight you’re paying for the product. This applies to everything from frozen yogurt to construction materials like asphalt. The business, however, does need to factor in material and overhead costs into their consumer product price to ensure their costs are covered. Sometimes you’ll see “tare” and a number listed on a shipping container, railcar, or other container so the net weight can be assessed more quickly — kind of like how I have the weight of my cat’s cage written in Sharpie on the cage itself so we can just put the cat in the cage on the dog scale at the vet instead of dealing with the tiny cat scales.

Hello so i just wanted to inform you that tutti frutti now has 3 diffrent cup sizes and i read a comeent on how much the cup wieghs and at tutti frutti they subtract the weight of the cup so you only pay for the yogurt and toppings you put in the cup…so hopefully you go back and more people will go in there,,Thyank you have a nice day
