Bye Bye Brillhart

Just last night I noticed the former site of East Sac stalwart Brillhart Shell, next to Corti Bros on Folsom, is now the location of an empty lot. Sorry, no pictures yet. Does this mean an empty lot for the next 20 years, as it so often does when a gas station is demolished? (It’s been so long I can’t even remember clearly, but I think that’s why the prime location on the northwest corner of 37th and Folsom is still vacant.) Or will it mean more parking for Corti Brothers, because that would be great. I won’t have to wait for parking before going in to be ridiculed for not ordering a sandwich in the correct manner.

dmz, they only tore this down a few weeks ago but the actual gas station has been closed for at least a year. It has been used as overflow parking for Cortis for some time but it looks like you might have missed the boat. Sorry!

PS — I’ve been ridiculed on the sandwich ordering as well.

I think Plumwin meant “a few days ago” cause I saw them out there Monday (I think). I figured something was going to happen soon when they put the fence up around the lot.

@dmz
Wait for parking!?! There is a *ton* of parking around the sides of the store. Ya you might have to walk a bit from your car, but Corti Bros isn’t anything like Safeway in midtown.

I’d like to see a new business go in because that is a good spot. Hopefully they won’t put some lame-ass fast food chain (or sushi joint) in to replace the shell.

i guess with trader joes in east sac, complaining about parking anywhere else is silly.

The fence went up a few weeks ago, not a few days ago. The actual gas station closed a long time ago. That’s all I’m saying.

You want to be really ridiculed? Come down to the Italian Deli on J Street. It is hysterical.

I think I can settle the timing dispute. I parked my car at Albertson’s yesterday to get Starbucks and do the light rail. Demo crews were hacking at the roof of the gas station. At 4 when I returned for my car the building was gone! It was rad. I’m really curious about what will go there - and hoping that if it must be a fast-food chain it will be a Koo Koo Roo. Immigrants from Southern CA you know what I’m talking about.

Yes, Yes. I agree with you HeyMeg. I meant closed as in not open for business, not all gone. You are all right ok? Sheesh.
