Extreme Pizza continues to prove that they are one of Sacramento’s leading proponents of extreme beer. Propietor Fred Munday frequently pours collections of the hoppiest and/or booziest beers from throughout NorCal. This Friday, Fred hosts Speakeasy Brewery, featuring Prohibition, Big Daddy IPA, Double Daddy Double IPA, and Vendetta (you guessed it, an IPA). Extreme Pizza will also have kegs of two locally made Triple IPAs: Auburn Alehouse ZZ Hop and Knee Deep Simtra. Next Friday, July 6th, he will feature several hop monsters from High Water Brewing Company as well as a few seasonal treats. Beer flows for both events at 4:30pm.
Also this Friday, Whole Foods in Folsom hosts Firestone Walker for a Total Tap Takeover, with tasting and pint specials from one of America’s most award winning breweries.
But wait, there’s more!
Every Thursday, Rubicon taps a new firkin of cask conditioned ale. On Saturday, July 7th, Rubicon launches their first Summer Firkin Fest, featuring cask ales from Sierra Nevada, Drake’s, Firestone Walker, Bear Republic, Heretic, Auburn Alehouse, Moylan’s, and of course from the Rubicon. Beer flows when the doors open at 11am.
On July 22nd, get out of town and tour great Bay Area breweries with the North Cal Beer Blog and Pangaea’s James Anderson. For $60, you will visit, tour and drink at Drake’s, Marin and Triple Rock Brewing Companies. Tickets must be bought by July 8.
One of my favorite annual events is the Friends of the California State Fair Brewfest on July 28th. $15 gives you samples of winning entries in their Craft Brew Competition, including the winner of the Golden Bear Award for best craft beer in the state. Poppy sez drink responsibly and fill up on delicious State Fair Food!

Don’t forget the “Bell Tower Brewfest” in Placerville this Saturday. A fun event where Main Street is blocked off, and the beer is sampled from the various shops along the way.
