Well folks, the Cool family could not make it to Big Fun this year so we’ll have to settle for checking out the state exhibits on Flickr. I didn’t necessarily look at every photo tagged “californiastatefair,” but I looked at every page of photos, and for some reason this one catches my eye the most. An apparition of Poppy, the State Fair mascot, haunts a fair-goer as he makes his way to the animal birthing areas. Luckily, he knows that Elvis glasses and a deep-fried beer will deftly exorcize the spirit.

Only Indiana Jones and his comely companion were safe when the Nazis opened the Keg of the Covenant and imbibed the spirits captured therein. The Nazis faces melted away very much like wax after they sipped its wheaty goodness.

A new publicity stunt to the 2006 fair, The Human Torch runs energetically through crowds in the food court. Unfortunately, the display was unsuccessfull at creating the excitement planners had expected.

The new Las Vegas street attraction “The Twin Towers” where flames shoot out of doors and windows as tourists walk by, opens on the 5 year anniversary of 09/11 to mixed reviews.

that Krispy Kreme chicken sandwich was pretty tasty, but they’ve outdone themselves this year with this deep-fried beer!
