There has been a malfunctioning pedestrian signal at the southeast corner of L and 30th Street for at least a week. It’s rather dangerous if you don’t pay close attention to the status of the light. Today, an older woman was having difficulty making sense of the faded, flickering hand icon. So I decided to see about reporting this to the appropriate party. Well, I spoke to a very nice gentleman today with the City of Sacramento Department of Transportation. The number is (916) 808-6313. Thought it might come in handy sometime.

John, thank you for noticing.
Yeah, one of the cool things about a web log is that you can take an otherwise mundane issue as a signal outage and quite possibly affect change. Sure, it’s not putting an end to world hunger or protecting hunters from being shot by fellow hunters, but it could help me get to La Fiesta faster at lunchtime and that’s good enough for me!

Ok, nice guy from the DOT, it’s been a week and no repair. Now I understand the red tape involved in these sorts of things can be long and winding, but, will it take an accident to get this repair completed?
Don’t make me send a strongly worded email to your superiors…on official Sac Rag stationary of course.
