Nanny Dickinson scolds the unscrubbed masses

Yesterday Roger Dickinson just seemed like a misguided local politician trying to justify being in bed with the NBA. But this morning I’m starting to feel like the pressure must be getting to him. From the Bee:

“I think people would be well advised to wait and see first of all if there is a deal, and then once there is, to examine the terms and the entirety of the proposal,” he said. “People simply ought not, and need not, rush to judgment.”

“Would be well advised”? Are we the British prime minister now?

And is he really asking us not to rush to judgement, as he and the other county sup’s will need to do to get the ballot language worked out before August 2 because of planned vacations? They are planning to work out legal ballot language on an as yet fictitious deal in 9 working days (the deal “must be completed by Thursday) but we can’t express reservations about the plan that we’ve heard about for almost a decade?

District 1 voters would be well advised to ask that it be shoved by Dickinson this fall. Of course, to borrow Dickinson’s rhetorical style, District 1 voters who think we should burden the taxpayers with an additional tax for an expensive arena so that millionaire philandering athletes can toss a ball around, at the possible expense of spending that money on other civic priorities like making sure orphans can have working swings at the park and levees to make sure puppies don’t drown in floodwaters can feel free to vote Dickinson to a 53rd term.

  1. dickinson is too busy worrying about sucking up to stern, buying $1500 zegna suits and planning getaways to give a ____ about his constituency. i mean, first they hype the shit out of this arena measure, plugging it on news 10 and sports 1140 to no end, then they tell us to chill the fuck out and be patient–wait for them to show their cards. gimme a break.
