Via the Causeway Film & Television Forum, I’m sure many of you will enjoy this list of local films and film people. Who knew Carlos Alazraqui, Garcia on TV’s “Reno 911!” was a Sacramentan? I do, now. And I can’t believe I forgot that LeVar Burton, my daughter’s favorite person right now, is one too.
(At this time I would like to grant full leeway for thread creep about “Reading Rainbow” nostalgia.)

Whenever I hear the name “LeVar Burton” (which must happen, what, like thrice weekly?) it always makes me think of the character Lamar from 1984’s “Revenge of the Nerds” — you know, the guy who threw the javelin. OK, now everybody sing/rap along:
Clap your hands everybody, and everybody clap your hands. We’re Lambda Lambda Lambda and Omega Mu. We come here on stage tonight to do our show for you. We got a rockin rhythm and a hi-tech sound that’ll make you move your body down to the ground. We got Poindexter on the violin, and Lewis and Gilbert will be joining in. We got Booger Presley on the mean guitar and a rap by little ol’ me Lamar. We got Takashi beating on his gong, the boys and the mu’s are clapping along. And just when you thought, ya seen it all, along comes a Lambda four foot tall. So won’t ya come on out here on the floor, so we can move our bodies, like never before.

Ok, runner-sac, how do we address this?
Either you have confused LeVar Burton for Larry B. Scott or the former simply “reminds” you of Larry B. Scott’s character, Lamar, in the movie. You know, cause Geordi La Forge was a total nerd, too.
