Artest arrested on dom. violence charges

ArtestedCBS13 has the goods

Placer County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Sacramento Kings’ Ron Artest on domestic violence charges.

Deputies say they got a call from Artest’s wife at 9:23 a.m. this morning.

Deputies responded and arrested Artest. He was taken to the Placer County jail in Auburn.

At this point I would like to retract 95% of my statements about the dog abuse thing…

UPDATE: CSI Sac provides the mugshot info

  1. yeah…i just heard that 5 sheriff’s patrols showed up at the scene. yeah..that’s right, 5. maybe we do have enough sheriff’s officers after all.

hey, you think he’s becoming a PR problem for the Kings yet?

  2. Wow, big surprise … not. Abuse and neglect of pets often goes hand-in-hand with domestic abuse. A humane officer told me years ago that she had an entire file cabinet of animal abuse cases that ended up as police matters because of violence against family members as well.

  3. Maybe some “How to treat your pets and hoes” classes at the park on weekends? Proof of current vaccinations and leashes manditory. Muzzles if they bite. Electronic control collars will be provided. Hey- they could charge people to watch and raise money for WEAVE and the Humane Society.

  4. I use plenty of treats to get mine to do tricks. But every once in a while you gotta remind them who’s boss.

  5. If you’re gonna do the crime you better be willing to the do the time. From KCRA:

Artest performed court-ordered community service last year after earlier pleading no contest to a domestic violence charge. He was also ordered to take a year’s worth of anger management classes, a six-week fathering class and three years of probation following a violent incident involving his wife, Kimsha.

    Six-week fathering class?
