For the love of all that is holy! There are so many things going on this weekend. Where to start? There’s the Lincoln Rib Festival, the American River Salmon Festival, the Armenian Food Festival, the Spookomotive, the Auburn Wine Festival, The Northern California Experimental Music Festival, the usual Second Saturday shenanigans, the Sacramento International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, and about 13,000 other things. But what will we be doing this weekend?
FRIDAY & SATURDAY– Sacramento Comedy Fest: Featuring sketch, improv and stand-up from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento. Shows start at 8pm, $10. All shows after 10pm, FREE. 1716 Broadway. I’ll be there, you should too.
SUNDAY– Before the Birthday celebration of Sac-Eats Sr., HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD, there will be much music to be had. Starting at noon, the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society, the kind folks who bring you the Jazz Jubilee every year, hold their monthly concert at the Dante Club. Drop on by, you know you’ve been jonesin’ for dixie and swing since the Jublilee ended, I know I have. Then, since I’ll be burned out on swing, I’ll drop by the jazz concert being held by local musical giant, pianist Joe Gilman at Savannah’s lounge inside the Red Lion Inn. It’s a CD release party for his newest album of Stevie Wonder tunes. Only then, after my toes are tired of tapping, will it be time to party.  Maybe this year, Dad will want a skate party.
I am going to Portland this weekend…hurray!! The comedy thing sounds fun though.

Regarding the Sacramento Comedy Fest, Tim Lee’s act on Saturday night alone is worth the $10 admission fee.

Spent all weekend at the Norcal Noisefest. The ringing in my ears is barely noticeable now.

The Lincoln Rib Festival was good fun…Although its name should be changed next year to the Lincoln Chicken and Hotdog Festival since there were only 2 rib vendors and thy ran out of ribs at lunch.

Don’t you love that, Sanchovilla?! I went to the Crab and Wine festival in SF one year. We got there at about 1pm and after they sold us entry tickets and then drink/food tickets, it was announced that they were all out of crab… and wine.
