RonTopofIt turned me on to this map of the spraying area which uses the super cool Google Maps API. (I’m planning to implement that here at SacRag just as soon as I understand how to do that).
Anyway this whole thing is just getting out of control (hence the new category designation). Where was the public notification that there was even an epidemic? I’m sorry, but if there is a super deadly disease spreading through town I don’t want to have to tune in at just the right segment on News 10 to hear it from county health person Glenna Trochet. I want Arnold to freakin break into the news to tell me.
Also, “pyrethrin cancer” on Google yields 6300 results. (Pyrethrin being the mosquito killing pesticide being used.) But not to worry: “chocolate cancer” yields about 1.4 million!

There have been numerous reports on the KCRA news and Capital Public Radio about the increasing number of mosquitoes and birds and horses with W. Nile. In addition, I received an e-mail from my representative from the vector control district quite some time ago. They convened two town hall style meetings to inform the public. Unfortunately, all the important stuff gets buried under celebrity gossip and Kings obsessions.
Not that there is anything wrong with either, but maybe a little more community involvment would do a body good?

Community inschmolvement. The day I get my news from Capital Public Radio is the day giant mosquitos spray human-icide from tiny airplanes to protect themselves from the human flu.
I stand by my contention that I was not contacted by Vector Control. Also I totally also heard about West Nile last year: same bat time, same bat channel.

Well, you may not have been contacted, but I did post about an open house on my announcements page after I got an email from the vector control guy. In June.
