Seasonal signs

Posted October 29, 2007 at 11:50 AM by CoolDMZ in Make Us Laugh, The Natural World (19 comments)

This morning on the way to work I saw 3 or 4 V-formations of Canadian geese flying south. It got me thinking about other sure signs around Sacramento that winter is coming…

  • A Kings player dons a ridiculous haircut
  • Buildings everywhere become nervous around vehicles (this really applies for all 4 seasons)
  • Arena-gate [enter year here] begins in earnest
  • The Downtown Plaza skating rink opens (Friday)
  • You or someone you know gets BOOed.
  • That’s all I could come up with. Help me out, peanut gallery…what are some other sure signs that Winter is approaching in the Capital city?

Awwww..RG got the Blue Canyon feed before I could. We always look forward to that.

Another sure sign..the menu changes at many restaurants, and one or two kitchen workers at many places are laid off until spring.

The City of Trees sheds its leaves, they are piled up in the gutters clogging the sewer drains and streets flood. Some people are still surprised at this.

Lower SMUD bill, higher PGE bill.

My neighbors test to see if their Christmas lights still work, after being up all year.

Eggnog does it for me every time. I can switch from Whiskey Sour to simply “eggnog.” Very Festive.
