What happens when the leaders of Sac’s biz community put their heads together? They want Sac to be big , like an Indianapolis on steroids/Disney. That is to say, they want to make downtown an “amusement park”, of sorts.
But putting the Sac Kings downtown? How about we make the team amusing first, and then talk about where to put them.
“Downtown is (Indianapolis’) Disneyland. So, if you’re a Californian, and you’re promoting tourism in California, one of the things you promote is Disneyland. That’s what they promote, is their downtown. That’s their playground. That’s their amusement park,” Butler said.
That quote is so stupid it’s making my brain hurt. He goes from metaphorical Disneyland to literal Disneyland and back again. I think a better analogy would have been “Anaheim has Disneyland; if you want people to come to Anaheim you don’t promise them lots of Chevron stations, you promise then Disneyland.”

If you build it they will come. Downtown, that is. Thank goodness downtown Sac has wide streets and isn’t surrounded by rivers/bridges so traffic won’t get backed up on game days. Hmmm. If our downtown is Disneyland then perhaps we need a People Mover. Yeah. Wait. What?
