Do you believe the statue is crying real blood?

Just in time for the holidays, a local statue of the Virgin Mary has begun crying tears of blood. Because parishoners at first suspected the work of local hooligans, the on top of it parish priest wiped the tears clean, only to see them reappear over the weekend. And since hoodlums and other assorted toughs usually take the weekends off, that settles that question.

Make sure to head right on over to CBS 13/UPN 31’s page and, without experiencing the statue for yourself, vote in their handy online poll, “Do you believe the statue is crying real blood?” Because whatever the situation is, the only important thing is whether Web site viewers believe it or not.

  1. This is the media whose innate skepticism and adversarial rationality is supposed to save democracy and advance truth, by the way. Yet when some con artist drips tomato juice on a church statute, the fenzied local media fall all over themselves to present “both sides” of the story, as though this is a story that actually has two valid sides. Yeah, a Sacramento-based statute of Jesus’s mom has really started crying blood. Incredible. I’m talking to you, Richard “Supernatural” Sharp of KCRA 3. I saw your pandering, idiotic report from the scene [http://www.kcra.com/video/5417638/index.html]. That’s a piece of work I won’t soon forget. Here’s some highlights:

“Most Catholics didn’t leave without taking pictures of what they consider a miracle.”

“Regardless of whether or not the statute is a miracle…”

“For [name of gaping retard] this is not a question of fact or fiction, it’s a sign.”

“Diocese say incidents like these usually do not turn out to be supernatural or a miracle…..”

Got it? Weeping Mary statutes usually aren’t scams. Only most of the time. Good job Richard. I’ll be keeping an eye on you. I see a huge future for you in television news.
