Look for a Bob Sylva piece on “loft living,” Sacramento’s newest and fakest fad. Don’t, however, look for the kind of skepticism with which the local blogosphere has been laying into the issue. Or maybe Sylva will surprise.

But do you know or have you ever known Jerry Brown? I mean, really known the guy?
I once went to a political fundraiser in Oregon in someone’s loft in what would become the Pearl District, but that was a good 10 or 12 years ago.

Jerry spoke at our high school once (“our” may or may not refer to mine and sac-eats’). but my better Brown family story is this:
when I was a kid my mom was a docent at the Governor’s Mansion, and once when I was tagging along on the tour Pat Brown just showed up out of nowhere. I didn’t say it was a good story, just my best story involving the Browns.
