“Sac Town Raw” a new low for CBS13

Didja catch CBS13’s report last night on “Sac Town Raw”

A local film producer is releasing a very controversial video showing Sacramento teenage girls engaged in vicious fights. It’s called “Sac Town Raw”.

CBS13 spoke with the producer and he says it may be shocking but he’s only reporting what he calls ‘Urban News’.

Oddly enough I can almost hear CBS13 giving a similar defense to my postings… CBS boldly went on to question whether the videos were even legal, talking to several law enforcement officials who had to admit that unless the video was of an assault (i.e. if the participants are not willing) that the videos were technically not illegal.

The journalistic integrity of CBS13, which looped the clips of the videos on the broadcast while questioning whether or not the videos are even legal, is nonexistent at this point. It is beyond doubt that CBS13 is the most laughable media entity this city has ever known.

  1. For the record, I would just like to say that several acquaintances of mine work at CBS 13 and CW31, and that I choose them as my primary source of news.

    With that said, why are girls fighting in the street considered “newsworthy”?

  2. if that is the case matthew, i fear you haven’t a clue about what is going on in this city much less this country and world. and for the record, CW31 is not news…at all…ever…end of story.

    as for this being the all new low for KOVR (CBS)13…you haven’t seen todays placerville fire. you can almost see them wishing for the fire to become bigger. Mike Dello Stritto must be stopped!

  3. @TalkingPocket: I said they were my PRIMARY source of news, not my ONLY source of news. You don’t know who I am, and I doubt you’ve ever read my blog (click my name), so it’s pretty pointless for you to insult my intelligence on world matters and current events.

  4. i’m not insulting you matthew, just the news you choose to stand behind and link to in your blog (more than 3 times in news stories you have posted).

  5. I am currently an intern for CBS 13/CW 31. It’s nice to know that some other locals are apalled at the lack of journalistic integrity seen by this station. Do you know what it’s like in the morning? Every single person is angry and screaming at another person, blaming them for things that aren’t their fault. A reporter was mad at an intern for something that was out of her control and took it upon himself to call her personally and cuss her out. Because that is how professionals behave. Journalism is dead, at least I hope it is after this experience. I will never go into the field because I am horrified and disgusted by what I have seen. This isn’t news, it is garbage. The reporters have too big a say on what is broadcast. They should represent a voice, not a personality. I don’t respect a single person at the station, nor have I seen one respectful action. They offer nothing but opinionated forecasts. The anchors have about as much talent as a dog.

  6. Dear Irritated;

    I’m really troubled by your experience at 13/31. Firstly, I assure you that not all broadcast organizations are like that which you endured. You seem like an intelligent person, and I’m sure you’re aware of that. You also know that, as unfortunate as it is, broadcast journalism, as well as music radio, is populated by egocentric morons as well as true pros. The good news: the pros vastly overshadow the morons. Many good, hard-working talented people are in this industry. Moreover, a lot of them have come through the halls at KOVR. That station had the bad luck to be bought by CBS/Viacom. That company breeds dissent and “good-ole-boyizm like I’ve never seen in any other company in broadcasting. I saw it firsthand when I was employed at The Zone. That may have been a contributing factor in your bad vibes there.

    That being said, I’m terribly disappointed That even the anchors were so unprofessional with an intern, who is there at oh-dark-30 doing whatever it takes, all for no money. I would’ve expected that kind of behavior from the anchors at ch. 3, but not from Lisa Gonzalez, or Michelle Caine, or even Chris Burroghs (sp).

    Hang in there!
