Those of you that have passed by the Howe Avenue or Arden Way editions of the Steve’s Pizza franchise have surely assumed they went the way of the dodo. The SP Web site indicates they are “Closed temporarily for renovations” which seemed fishy to me. Emails were sent and responses received and from all accounts both locations will be back up and running in the new year. Howe Avenue in January and Arden Way “in the next 90 days.”
This was good news to me. I hope it is to you as well.
Three Monkeys is apparently “closed for maintenance issues.”

That is indeed great news. I hope they didn’t renovate the Howe Ave location too too much. I loved it.

Steve’s in Woodland is my favorite Steve’s aesthetically, although the only thing older than the late 19th century building it is in is the lettuce in the salad bar.

I agree with you, Hecubus. The salad bar is not and should not be the reason you visit Steve’s Pizza.

They are also one of the few places that have gluten free crust available (at least at their Davis location). My little boy is allergic to gluten, so this is a good thing!

My wife and friends were at the Steve’s Pizza in Natomas recently, and “Steve” himself was there. He told them the closures were just “big mixups”…I believe I read in the paper that the francisee on Howe closed the doors; so I guess Steve has to find a new one and/or a new loan to reopen himself.
I don’t suppose that they are health code violations? Anyone looked it up? Not likely, I hope.
I agree, Steve’s Pizza is by far the best of the lot.

Thanks, Andy, good call.
I couldn’t find anything on the County site.
Steve’s Pizza is one of the “three main brands” of Pacific Restaurant Holdings, Inc.
With franchise operated restaurants, and 1 company operated restaurant, Steve’s Pizza is a quick-casual “hometown†pizza restaurant offering the finest quality pizza in the family category, where superior ingredients and preparation deliver superior pizza affordably priced for dine-in, take-out and delivery. Steve’s menu offers a selection of classic appetizers, a fresh salad bar, delicious hot sub-sandwiches, home-style pasta and a selection of gourmet and classic pizzas with over 30 choices of toppings.
I was told that Arden would be a “new Franchisee.”

The Natomas location could use a remodel, but their “Mediterranean Delight” pizza is really good. Vegetarian but so good you don’t miss the meat.

I drove past the Arden location last night and there’s a big rental sign in the window. Steve’s has always been one of my favorites, but when new owners came in a few years back, prices went up and quality went down. The salad bar seemed to suffer the most, along with the customer service. Still, I would hate to lose one of my favorite pizza places…

Good spot, Driveloctiy. I guess they’re thinking about remodeling by having a new tenant move in.
Is “closed for renovations” the new white lie of corporate real estate? Or is it a ploy for businesses to temporarily vacate to force property owners to cut rents?
Somebody email Bob Shallit!

Sorry, guys, by saying that:
“Emails were sent and responses received and from all accounts both locations will be back up and running in the new year. Howe Avenue in January and Arden Way “in the next 90 days.”â€Â
I meant that I, too, noticed the vacancy signs and this is what lead me to contact Pacific Restaurant Holdings, Inc. who informed me that both locations will be back up and running in the new year. Howe Avenue in January and Arden Way “in the next 90 days.”
They insist that the new Arden occupant will be a new Steve’s Pizza franchisee.
So, yeah, who knows.

3 monkeys closed without telling us that we’d have to move our office holiday party somewhere else. not very nice!

Just to be clear, the county site shows NO health code violations for Steve’s pizza.

A good friend of mine also recently found out that her Christmas party was no longer to be held at the closed 3 Monkeys, also without notice. That’s pretty f’d up.

They serve pizza at three monkeys?

Maybe people just didn’t like eating monkeys.

But where else can you get a pizza with THREE kinds of monkey on it? Nowhere, I tells ya. Maybe Borneo- never been. The Bonobo-gorrila-spider combo has a nice tang to it. A bit like long pork, but not quite there. Still- best mainstream monkey pizza out there.

Methinks Moe doth protest too much. Always seeing racism and whity putting others down. Couldn’t be a FREAKIN’ JOKE ABOUT THE BEST DANG THREE-MONKEY PIZZA IN SACRAMENTO, COULD IT? I suppose a joke about eating bug tacos in the local Taco Bell is demeaning to all the bug eatin’ cultures? Joke’s on you because those aren’t bugs in the tacos! HA!

Sorry amrit. I got off on a tangent about the best monkey meat pizza, and then Moe and I hugged n’ stuff. Back to Steve’s- only had it a few times. Legit pizza, great for the price, but not losing sleep over it.

Steve’s in Carmichael (5 Points/Arden) has a Grubb/Ellis for lease sign. There isn’t ANY remodeling occuring!

Thanks, Squid. And that sign has been there since the beginning, I just didn’t want to mention it since the guy assured me of their plans.
I’m with you though.
