I have just learned via mt. st. mtn. that Sacto expatriates Chk Chk Chk will be playing at Beatnik Studios The Townhouse this Friday at 9:30 9:00 P.M., as part of a North American tour that started on the East Coast. They will be playing in the Bay Area, LA and Arizona and of course the Austin City Limits festival next weekend.
The lineup for Friday’s show also contains Sacramento’s Mayyors, whom I have not heard, but they got a pretty decent writeup by the Austin Chronicle when they played SXSW earlier this year. Sounds like the place to be Friday night if you like art pop and/or art punk and are currently not experiencing any hearing loss.
UPDATED INFO:
!!! (Chk, Chk, Chk), MAYYORS
The Townhouse: 1517 21st Street
9:00 PM, $5, 21+
looks like this show has been moved to The Townhouse.

I have a Chk Chk Chk noise in my car on cold mornings. Do they do car repair?

Yep I updated the post. So the $5 cover is nice but the show is now 21+.
TS: There are approximately 47 members of Chk Chk Chk and I’m sure one of them knows a thing or two about car repair.

they did a few shows at the press club this past spring that were pretty amazing.

Incredible live band. If any readers expect to be able to get into this show, arrive really early, I expect people to queue up several hours in advance. And, don’t forget, there are going to be a ton of ‘special’ people who won’t have to wait in line. The Townhouse just got their permits this week, so I would not expect them to exceed capacity. At all.

Sad.
As a side note, the story references the tragic death of Mike Gius a few years ago. It incorrectly states that Mike was also a drummer for Maserati, but Mike was a founding member of !!!.
Not surprising that the NYPost gets details wrong in a story that is just printed for the shock value.
Unfortunately, this incident is probably going to make a lot of painful memories surface for the many local people who loved Mike.
