Since I haven’t seen anything in the Sacramento media on this yet, I figure I had better alert readers about the massive egg recall due to salmonella contamination. Supposedly, all of the eggs have been cleared from local stores, but some were spotted at an SF area Safeway, and you might have some sitting in your fridge right now. Click here for details about brands, etc.
Wow, thanks Stickie! Luckily, all the eggs in our fridge are from before May 16.

The fiancée did our home egg inspection. We’re clear. Good thing, too, because I eat 2 a day…every day 🙂

This applies to CHICKEN eggs only, so my bald eagle eggs are still safe to eat. YUM!! And thanks to DDT, they are easier than ever to crack open!

DDT? Turty, you’re dating yourself. I’m too lazy to google, but I think DDT was banned in the late 70’s. Why not throw a “Welcome Back Cotter” reference in for good measure.

The upside of Turty’s eagle egg operation is that he isn’t just killing the eagles for their meat.
I can confirm that eagle tastes a lot like chicken, BTW.

With the government wanting to get more control over the egg industry to try to prevent similar recalls in the future, expect more complex regulations, more complex paperwork, more complex inspections. The result will invariably be lax oversight by the government, higher prices for the eggs and no improvement in quality or recalls. History has proven this over and over again, the futility of complex oversight.
