Local in the running for potato chip flavor contest

DUAF_Lay's Wavy Mango SalsaYou can’t make this stuff up. Julia Stanley-Metz from right here in Sacramento dreamed up “Wavy Mango and Salsa Potato Chips” and is subsequently one of just 4 finalists for a $1 million grand prize from Lay’s.

On Tuesday, July 29, Julia Stanley-Metz will be joined by the Mayor of the City of Sacramento Kevin Johnson at World Peace Rose Garden to officially proclaim the date, “Lay’s Wavy Mango Salsa Potato Chip Day in Sacramento.”

So you’ll all remember where you were on the very first Lay’s Wavy Mango Salsa Potato Chip Day in Sacramento. It looks like you’ll be able to purchase and eat these chips, as well as vote on your favorite starting July 28:

From July 28 to October 18, consumers may vote once each day for their favorite finalist flavor on http://www.DoUsAFlavor.com; via Twitter, Instagram and/or Vine using the hashtags #SaveBaconMac, #SaveCappuccion, #SaveWasabi, #SaveMango; and/or via text message by texting “Bacon Mac,” “Cappuccino,” “Wasabi” or “Mango” to 24477 (CHIPS).

Good luck to Julia, though one of the flavors is Cappuccino which makes me throw up in my mouth just a bit, and honestly things that taste like bacon are kinda played out, not to mention that a mass produced fake bacon taste is probably very bad, so I think she has a shot at this thing. Go Julia!

  1. Yes, Julia’s is definitely the best of the bunch. I am currently in Taiwan where one can enjoy either Lays or Pringle in delicious blueberry flavor.
