the Sac Rag

Sacramento News, Gossip & Snark

If you live here, you'll know...

I’m doing research, honest.

I would make this one a “Make us laugh” post, but that clearly doesn’t motivate folks. But, you know what motivates people? MySpace (a place for friends) discussions. With that said…

Access to MySpace has been blocked at the Lodi Police Department.

Police officials say they decided to block access to MySpace on the department’s internal network because officers were spending too much time browsing online.

But, never fear, officers who use the site for investigations or other authorized reasons will still have access.

Hmm, if you have a site that may need to be visited from time to time for investigations and other authorized reasons, do you really need to be on that site for non-investigations and unauthorized reasons?

What’s the big deal with My Space? Sure, there are a few bad apples on there, but overall, I think it can be a very useful and entertaining site.

Are you saying that the police officers are breaking the law? Couldn’t they just be checking their friends list?

I see your point, Hank. However, there has to be a reason the police force is blocking this particular Web site and not google.com, yahoo.com, cnn.com, etc. All of which have to be frequently visited, right?

Plus, the site is pure evil and you know it.

Make it a great day.

Ha, ha, RonTopofIt.

The “do-it-yourself” Web is here to stay though.

Perhaps the Sac Rag should be hopping on board?

Many organizations block certain sites for productivity reasons. I can no longer access sacrag on our network. Cuteoverload.com is also blocked, but at least I can still get to dailykitten.com! Whew!

I’ve got a better idea. Instead of blocking a website, why not FIRE someone who isn’t doing their job when they are at work?
