If you live here, you'll know...

Favorite local slogans

For some reason I never was able to get News10.net’s slogan out of my head: “You don’t surf the com, you surf the net!” And I thought what better topic is there for a lazy Monday than your favorite (good and bad) local slogans? Have at it…

I was always a huge fan of “We know what drives you, Roseville Auto Mall!”

One of my faves from AfganiStan Atkinson:

“We have news for you… (dramatic pause) …next!”(while folding a news script in half).

Truly a classic!

This one just popped in my head. It has to be the worst and also because Mark S. Allen is usually in the ad:

“Western Career college…. YOU CAN DOOOO IT!!!!!”

I know that it is not specific to Sacramento but I always like the Round Table line. “Mr. B wants extra cheese” Maybe it is just me..

That Cal Worthington jingle is the exact same one he used when he ran his car dealership up in the Seattle area. When I moved down here, I was surprised to see him on TV, and realized that he had vanished from the Pacific Northwest and I didn’t even notice.

And now, he’s gone again.

Does anyone else remember a commercial for a carpet/flooring place back in the late 70s/early 80s with a young girl “riding” a roll of carpet, saying “GIDDYUP SHAG!”. I’ve never forgotten that one.
Or, even though it’s for Merced, the RV place…”if we’re not the biggest we’re the nicest, the people at Bob Davis trailer and camper..MANTEEECA!”

Rosie, YES. Now I’m going to have that image & tagline stuck in my head for days. I’m sure that girl has had plenty of counseling.

That was around the same era as the commercials for the Mickey Mouse Talking Phone (not local, I know.) “HEY MICKEY! Come over for a PARTY!”

“Above the fog, below the snow, out of this world!”

“Got Space?”
