Let the Year End Lists Begin-Best Meals of 2007

My Top Ten Meals of 2007

10.  The chile colorado at Sal’s Tacos.  Whether it was the fantastic flavors or the drunkenness achieved at the West Coast Brewfest, this had to have been the best Mexican meal of 2007.

9.  Due to its consistency rather than one-time superiority, the Drunken Pig Tostada at Sacramento Brewing Company.  As always washed down with a Celtic Amber.

8.  The small plate of orichette at Mulvaney’s B&L.  Tender, delicious, sublime.

7.  The apple cider doughnut at Rainbow Orchards.  Sure, it’s not a meal, but you can always eat four more and call it a meal.

6.  The divine tuna melt at Tuli Bistro.  The antithesis of the truckstop melt, this openfaced sandwich served with a light side salad is perfect bistro fare.

5.  The ribeye, perfectly grilled, with an indulgent side of bacon cheddar mashed potatoes and a relish of tomatoes, corn and black-eyed peas (to call this a relish is a bit demeaning), at Esquire Grill.

4. As always, a “Squeeze with Cheese” at the Squeeze Inn.

3. The BBQ Beef sandwich at the State Fair.

2. Carnitas tacos (at least once a week) at Angel’s Fresh Mex.

1.  Christmas dinner with the family, a Mr. and Mrs. Eats joint production, featuring beets and beet greens from our local farmer’s market as well as recipes from local food bloggers, Garrett of Vanilla Garlic and Elise of Simply Recipes.

 Happy New Year to all.

I think you should post the BBQ beef pic before I figure out how to…

FYI re #1: If you have lots of the beets, your #1 and #2 will be discolored for a few days. Do not call the advice nurse. It will pass — literally.

Merry new year to all! Avoid the curse of the beets with a hearty helping of asperaguses.

Asparagi? Although, that sounds like a contraction to describe a male with Asperger’s.

Thanks, TMI for the warning… I, too, have some Farmer’s Market beets I was gonna cook. My life is chaotic enough without adding “where the hell is there an ER in Folsom?” (to the best of my knowledge, nowhere) quandary…..!

This was sac-eats’s 200th post!!

My top meal of the year might have been an Italian pot roast that we cooked up in the slow cooker for Christmas eve dinner. Second best in that case is probably when we had the leftovers on New Years’ eve.
