I know this is sort of an out of character post for this here blog, but occasionally when specific homes that I have always admired go on the market I think it warrants a posting. There are certain homes in town that I have just always wanted to live in. You know, while the people who own it are on vacation. Just kidding! I’m also hoping that merely being mentioned by CoolDMZ will help move some inventory and get the market back on track.
This house, 1025 37th Street is right behind the parking lot of the Subway on 37th and Jay streets. When I was a kid I always thought that porch was pretty gnarly (that’s what we said back then), and I loved the idea of living next door to Winchell’s (which formerly occupied the Subway space). It has always been on Mrs Cool’s and my short list of dream homes. I cannot believe it is on the market for $350k, that seems like a total steal, even though it is adjacent to the parking lot of a liquor store. Somebody snatch it up! And then have me over for a sittin’ party on that wraparound porch. Did I mention it is right near a Peet’s?

What a gorgeous house. It’s also walking distance to Big Spoon. Warning: if the Cools were to move there they might find a certain family member who has never wavered from her adoration for FroYo is incessently lurking around. That might explain the attractive listing price.

Adjacent to the parking lot of a liquor store is a plus in my book. Could be worse- might be right next to a Christian or Scientologist Book store.

Does religion and books scare you?

I love that house and I too remember admiring it when I was a teenager spending way too much cash at Winchells.

Also love this place and used to frequent the Winchells and KFC. I say “make an offer”. On another note however, Big Spoon–I’m not getting it at all. Kiddo, of course loves the joint what with the bajillion different toppings, but seriously–it’s YOGURT! Why the throngs of people outside every evening??
What ever happened to people hanging out at Cookies Drive-In licking their softserve, chocolate-dipped cones under the misters?

Ooh maybe they are selling because it is haunted. Bonus!

Dry rotted wood all over the exterior and it’s built 2 feet from the ground. Can you imagine the kind of creatures living under there? The realtor must have photo shopped the photos!

Barbara is trying to scare us away from the dream house! Hmmmm… Barbara… Barbie…. Is there a waterslide in the back?

Stickie… Have you seen the house close up yet?
July 17th, 2008 at 2:27 pm
And there’s not a water side in the back …jerk..but an AC unit the size of my SUV.
July 17th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
How big is your SUV?

Ah yes, when I think “Stickie,” I think “jerk.”
(Not really.)
July 17th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
That’s “not really” on the “jerk” part, not the
part.

Jerk Chicken? I wonder what would work better: tofu, quorn or veet? I’m thinking quorn.

I’ve been eyeing this house for about a month now…any reason why it’s been on the market for so long (besides the obviously bad economy)?
July 24th, 2008 at 11:06 am
That’s R-U-N-N-O-F-T.

The previous owners were in a tight spot!!
P.S. this house is now P.S. If any of you Raggers takes ownership of this house, email me offline and let me know.

This house is still for sale. I wish the Subway was still a Winchells donuts like it was when I was a kid. I would love to wake up to that smell.
