Rancho Cordova is rated NC-17.

A while back, Mrs. TopofIt observed how common it was to see kids in public places during school hours.

Well, my blogger-in-law, your voice was heard through the Sac Rag megaphone, and the powers-that-be have listened. Rancho Cordova is thinking about locking all kids down during school hours.

But, I wonder if the cops should also be locking down the adults in Rancho as well, although for other reasons than you think…

Let’s break this down one time. In the Sac Bee, according to the Rancho school superintendent:

Patrick Godwin, superintendent of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District, cautioned that police shouldn’t assume students are truant just because they aren’t on campus during school hours. He said 2 percent to 5 percent of teenagers in the district graduate early, and another 5 percent to 10 percent are involved in work-experience programs.

“The number of students who are truly truant is very small,” Godwin said.

But, according to Rancho cops boss:

Police Chief Thomas McMahon said the daytime curfew could cut criminal activity during school hours because most daytime burglaries and petty thefts are caused by minors.

Hmmm, based on this story, me thinks the cops might want to take a closer look at what those kids are learning in those “work experience” programs out in the RC.
