There hasn’t been much news on the Light Rail beat – just the usuall guys smoking huge fatties right in front of the police, etc. – but last night I witnessed a totally rad fight. A middle-aged business woman was getting on the train while a teeny-bopper Hallaback girl was getting off. They bumped into each other in the aisle. This prompted said Hallaback girl to go OFF, yo. She started screaming immediately (and now I will curse in the manner of Buster from Arrested Development) “F YOU, YOU B” to which the other woman simply and elegantly flipped the bird. The girl had to get off the train – it was her stop after all – but she continued yelling through the open doors, “I F-ed YOUR HUSBAND LAST NIGHT, B, AND HE PAID ME FOR IT TOO, HO!” This was repeated numerous times, louder and louder. I spent the next three stops trying to solve the riddle of whether being paid to have sex with someone’s husband wouldn’t in fact make you the “ho.” Light rail is SO much better than driving.

And posts about light rail are SO much better than posts about driving, too.
Nice work, Meg.

Well, “paid” is a little bit of an exageration. I gave her squirty stock tips. She was a little worried about the capital gains implications, but we were able to sort it out after a 3rd round. Mrs. Tip was equally elegant in informing me that I am NO LONGER allowed to trade squirty stock tips for a little tippy squirt on the side.

I’m still a little uncertain as to the histories and differences between the terms “whore” and “prostitute.” I always thought that one got paid, whereas the other one just did it because she was, you know, a loose slut. After consulting dictionary.com, I suppose they’re the same:
WHORE (hôr, hr) n.
1. A prostitute.
2. A person considered sexually promiscuous.
3. A person considered as having compromised principles for personal gain.
intr.v. whored, whor·ing, whores
1. To associate or have sexual relations with prostitutes or a prostitute.
2. To accept payment in exchange for sexual relations.
3. To compromise one’s principles for personal gain.
Then again she could have meant it:
HO (h) interj.
Used to express surprise or joy, to attract attention to something sighted, or to urge onward: “Westward ho!,” “Land ho!,” or “I F’ed your husband and he paid me for it, ho!”

Perhaps she just meant it as in definition 3 under “whore,” specifically that the woman compromised her principle of leaving enough room for hallaback girls on the light rail aisles for her personal gain of a seat on the train?

Man, this darn Sac Rag thing makes you think…and learn. I always thought it meant a girl that calls you back when you call her for meaningless sex (am I dating myself by using the term we used to use…booty call?)
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hollaback+girl
4. A female, usually a teenager or young adult, who, when insulted, will reply verbally. This is typically achieved by insulting the original insulter (otherwise known as ‘hollering back’, shortened in this case to ‘hollaback’).

THAT’S what “Hollaback Girl” means? I thought it meant “lame attempt to recapture the high school crowd you had when you were lead in a ska band ten years ago, but weren’t making enough money.”
