Well the title says it all. I think the sites selected for the Dotties are pretty sad. So here’s my picks with an emphasis on the locals. Who would you pick?
Arts & Culture
ISO50 : Scott Hansen is one of the best artists to come out of Sacramento in a while. Music, photo, and digital this guy does it all. Disclaimer: I know this guy through various social connections but his art is still awesome.
Entertainment
SN&R : You can’t go wrong with good old fashion old media sometimes. SNR’s got the best wrap up of local entertainment that I’ve found so far.
Finance, Insurance & Law
CRLA : The California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation has done some great legal work for local farmworkers. You should donate your time and/or money to them. Their website sucks but they’re a great org.
Healthcare, Biotech, Agriculture & Engineering
Cal Nurse’s Assoc. : They get my vote for the hard time they’ve been giving our sorry governor.
Lifestyles & Travel
Heckasac : In Sacramento lifestyle has a hecka prefix.
Media
Rough & Tumble : Ya, it’s mostly political news, but politics is a huge part of Sacramento. They must read through every major newspaper in CA for their stories.
Non Profit, Clubs & Associations
LWV : There are so many NPs in Sac it’s hard to chose just one so I went with the site that I’ve visited the most in the recent past.
Politics & Government
Around the Capitol : Bills, law, and elections this site is a huge resource for state politics. If only our government could have the coordination and foresight of Scott Lay.
Retail & B2B
Midtown Sac : A large directory of midtown shops. The site is really pretty ugly (blue & orange?!?) but it’s a good place to find new retail shops.
Services & Manufacturing
Safeway : Honestly I couldn’t really think of any other place. They offer home delivery for around $10 with a minimum purchase of $50.
Sports & Sports Fan Clubs
Craigslist Activity Partners : I’m not big on pro sports but I do like to play many different sports. I’ve meet a few very cool people off CL Act (and emailed a bunch of weirdos and flakes) so you just have to be persistant and flexible.
Web Design, Advertising & PR
Black Dog Dev : I’ve seen the old CR Dezign name before. I just checked them out and they do great work.

Damn, I forgot about cockeyed. I think he deserves his own category though. You could spend days on his site and not get through it all.
