They said it couldn’t happen but they have been known to be wrong in the past. Check out Sam McManis’ fresh post: 21Q – ‘Good Day Sac’ reporter gives beer to the homeless
Jay Henderson, a reader from Folsom, writes to say he was stunned on Monday morning to see “Good Day Sacramento” reporter Chris Burrous (left) give a case of beer and a bag of McDonald’s food to a homeless woman during a live segment.
Yeah, that’s probably in poor taste… the McDonalds I mean.
And while they ought to expect to field many bad reactions from viewers, I kinda get this “don’t feed the bears” type of vibe. I mean, they’re homeless people, not animals. I’m sure the McDonalds and beer was greatly appreciated. I doubt the person got sh*tfaced and obese from the incident. Now if he gave the homeless person some apple juice and a garden salad… well that would just be condescending.

I am thinking some vitamin water and a cliff bar..although maybe Chris just gave him what he had sitting in his car?

I thought the “new low” was the Sactown Raw fighting girls thing? So this, you’re saying, is even lower than that? Come on guys, get over it.

well, you can see for yourself (some nice person posted it on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdHiBlXYLJU) his colleagues and officer Wetzel were taken aback by his stunt and that has to speak to something. though, i think it was on par for his anything-for-ratings style.

Who was offended by that? I wasn’t offended by it…I don’t see what’s wrong.

We’re a top 25 media market. You think he could have afforded more than Bud Light. C’mon Chris, pony up for some Sam Adams Octoberfest.

Radio is Arbitron #27, so that’s definitely not top 25…and television’s #20 by Nielsen, so that’s just barely making it there.
But as for the whole incident, so what? Who cares? Why is this offensive? To me, this isn’t any worse than people who give money to panhandlers on the streets…they’re going to use the money on the same stuff. This is just like cutting out the middleman.

It’s not like he was passing out crack to 8 year olds. Seems a little hypocritical for the “feed the homeless” bunch to critisize donations of any untainted/sealed food products on Thanksgiving. And blatant stereotyping if you think “all homeless are alcoholics” who wouldn’t enjoy a beer.
Though I’m worried about the issue of a Mayor potential influencing voting with alcoholic beverages. If we could find out Crhis’ (sic) political leanings, the other side could call for an investigation and hearings?

Amen to that! The hypocrites are the ones who give money to the homeless, yet bash those who cut out the middleman and deliver the goods themselves. What do you think they’re doing with the $5 bill you give them on the street corner? Investing in tech stock?

you can always count on matthew to come to the rescue whenever his beloved chris is in trouble. again matthew, with the blaring cbs13 logo/link on your front page you lose all credibility when speaking on their behalf.

Chris Burrous has shown that he has what it takes to take over for Maury Povich or Jerry Springer.

Bloggers need credibility? At least I’m not afraid to put my URL in my comments…where’s YOUR website, TalkingPocket? And so what if I have their logo on my front pageâ€â€am I not allowed to display what I want how I want on my website? Do you see me bashing the SacRag for attacking CBS? Nope…I just give my happy opinion and then I’m on my way.
Personal attacks are cheap blows. It’s like firing blanks when you have no ammunition, just to say you fired something.

yes, bloggers need credibility…that’s the point dipshit. that’s what bloggers have been trying to gain by seeking after journalistic protections for sources and what-not. you think the folks at truthdig.org and huffingtonpost.com don’t want cred? unless you’re happy with a site like the superficial.com. and no, you don’t see a url because i’m not a blogger, i don’t have a website, i haven’t the time nor the inclination. bravo to you for having both. bang!

somebody ought to tell TMZ that CBS13 totally already covered it.

Totally, eh?
I’m a little upset at Sac Bee for using one of my videos on the 21Q blog and taking it completely out of context when it comes to CBS 13.
