Beastie Boys replaced at Outside Lands replaced by … Tenacious D

I didn’t know there still was a Tenacious D! But apparently they will be replacing the Beastie Boys in the Outside Lands festival as the headline act on the last day.

The festival is August 28-30 and features, IMHO, a less-good lineup than last year. But that may just be me. Incubus? Tom Jones? Jason freakin Mraz?

  1. While the replacement act may be suspect, let’s not forget the reason the Beastie Boys had to back out.

Beastie Boy Adam Yauch has what is described as a “very treatable” cancerous tumor in his salivary gland. An announcement came Monday from the group, which is canceling its tour dates and postponing an album release.

That photo of MCA should help us all feel just a little bit younger.

  2. I am attending Day 3 to see Ween. I am disappointed that Ween, who headlines major festivals around the world, does not get to enjoy the publicity and the paycheck that accompanies a mainstage appearance, and that the honor of replacing the Beastie Boys goes to a novelty act featuring fat comedians with a setlist of 50% cover songs.

    Lame.

  3. Whoa, are you dissing Tom Jones? AND putting him in the same sentence as Jason Mraz and Incubus?

    For shame, CoolDMZ, for shame.
