File this under the “Some of the best news I have heard all year” category. The Old Sugar Mill has announced that they are hosting concerts beginning this summer. So far, Randy Travis and Cheap Trick are scheduled to appear, with more acts TBA.
Sacramento desperately needs more mid-sized live music venues to attract national touring acts. OSM will seat approximately 1500, feature a cool Delta breeze and pour some of our best local wines. Hopefully, someone has plans to deal with the traffic, the parking, and prettying up the grounds. After seeing the schedule for Saratoga’s Mountain Winery, I wished for a similar place here, and it came true! You’re welcome, Sacramento.

Let me know next time you’re going tasting there, I would love to tag along as my experience there did not reflect that their wines were “best local” at all, some weren’t even “mediocre local”. For the distance better wine and/or ambiance is to be had.
