It has come to my attention that the Red Lion Hotel (nee Sacramento Inn) is to be redeveloped by Capital Management Group. You can read about the proposed changes here, but there is one specific change that I would like to see. I took the time to email Jeffrey Berger, president of Capital Management, the following message, hoping that others would do the same.

Dear Mr. Berger,I was very interested to read of your firm’s purchase and redevelopment plans for the Red Lion Hotel in

Sacramento. As a long time

Sacramento resident I can speak to the fact that a facelift on the Red Lion is overdue. In particular, I have been greatly anticipating the emergence of “

Savannah’s,” the music performance venue at the Red Lion, as a top grade venue in town. Many year’s ago, Savannah’s was a great place to hear nationally renowned jazz musicians from the

Sacramento area and around the country. In the last decade, however, fewer and fewer nationally recognized names have come through town and

Savannah’s has done (apparently) little to draw them in. As part of your redevelopment plan, I hope you may consider the revitalization of

Savannah’s as a world class music venue, especially as jazz venue, since this is an art form that is greatly lacking in this city. Thank you for your time and consideration

Should you want to email Mr. Berger as well, you can do so at jb@univcm.com
