So, my car went kaput on me yesterday in an underground parking lot downtown. Normally I’d just call AAA, but I knew it would have to be towed to the dealership due to alarm malfunction, so I called my warranty company. The process took a while to navigate, but eventually my warranty company said that a truck was on the way. I was pretty pessimistic about the ability of a tow truck to navigate the narrow aisles of the garage and still be able to clear the 8′ ceilings, but hope springs eternal.
To the rescue came a bright red tow truck from Best Towing. At the helm of the truck was Viktor, a stolid, competent man in his mid thirties. While Viktor was hooking me up I learned that he was not just an employee but the owner of Best Towing. A Ukrainian immigrant who had been Sacramento for 11 years, Viktor had started a security company years ago, but could never find a reliable towing company to tow cars from the properties that he was guarding, so he started his own. If that ain’t the American way I don’t know what is. He adroitly maneuvered the truck through the maze of the parking lot without once scraping his lightbar on the ceiling or clipping an SUV parked in a “Compact” spot. Also, as we drove down Arden way, he pointed at Tex Wasabi’s and said, “Have you been there? The sushi is horrible, but the pulled pork is pretty good.”
I liked Viktor a lot.

I used them too and they were great! My car broke down (some would say “ran out of gas” but it’s terrible admiting that) and was literally stuck right across the light rail track like a damsal in distress. They got there in about one second flat and bailed me out and the driver was very nice and refained from any “female driver” jokes.

Oddly enough, Viktor pulled pork when he towed my truck with market hogs in the back outta the mud a few months ago. Very nice guy.

I just used Best Towing for a dead battery, and tow-er James (Steve? John? It was monosyllabic and masculine) jumped my rig and followed me to the dealer to make sure I got there OK.
Since he was following me, I thought it would be funny to go through the Del Taco drive-thru, maybe the dry cleaner’s drive-thru, or any other establishment where I would not need to turn off my ignition and have to get it re-jumped.
Best Towing is still totally the best.
(For those of you who want to berate me for taking my vehicle to the dealer for “just a battery,” I figured that there must be something wrong with something else & that’s what’s draining the battery — since it’s less than 3 years old — and that “something else” is covered under my warranty.)

I got in an accident and my car was towed to the 10th street lot. I called to pick up my vehicle, Viktor was not on site I had to wait for an extended period of time for him to come and release the vehicle to me. I had to pay an absorbant amount of fees to get my vehicle which he does’nt have listed anywhere to inform why so much. I have had my vehicle towed before and the other company at least had their tow rates posted and visible to see why the fees are what they were. Anyways I’m just very dissapointed with the lack of service I recieved. He wouldn’t answer any questions. I’ve searched this company online and have had a hard time finding any info. I have contacted the city and informed them of the situation they don’t seem like a legit company to me.

What’s important right now is that you were not injured in your accident.

No matter what you do, you will never keep everybody happy. My respond to above stated will be generic as I do not know who the person is and she did not leave enough info to verify what really has happened.
Even though there is someone on site most of the times, customers are ALWAYS advised to call when they are on the way just to make sure, so next time, please, follow directions. As far as fees, our rates are set and approved by every police department that we are working with and they change every year. Also, every customer is given a receipt that showing detailed info about charges, and because you did not see the rates posted, does not mean they are not. As far as not answering your questions, there are only two explanations, one: you were not registered owner of the vehicle, in which case I couldn’t answer any and in that case you didn’t get the vehicle out of the impound yard either, or you just didn’t listen to what you were told. And answer to your last question would be: if I couldn’t find any info about you online then you must not be a real person. (I hope you got my point). I do not advertise to general public as one, it is more expensive then I could make even in gross receipts from that add (1 page add in SBC yellow pages used to cost $6,000 per month back when I did advertise, and how many people looking in yellow pages or on the internet when they broke on the side of the freeway? Do you carry one in your car?) and two, I have enough work working with police departments, local repair shops, motor clubs and because of outstanding service I get a lot of repeat customers as well as word of the mouth is the best advertisement. You could not get a police contract if you were not a legit company, more then that, they require you to have and know a lot more then it is required of you by law.
Conclusion: No matter what you do, you will never keep everybody happy.

Either you are mistaken or you suck at the Internet. If you google “Best Towing” Sacramento you get a phone number and a mailing address.
Now. Go to the California Economic Development Department website, which is how you can tell if someone is a real business. http://www.labormarketinfo.edd.ca.gov/?pageid=1005 and click “find employers”. You will see that Best Towing does, indeed, exist at the same location and phone number that is available on Google. Their registered business is Motor Vehicle Towing (NAICS code: 488410).
Forgive my attitude if I am incorrect in my assumptions about your motivations behind your post, but I don’t like people using other people’s web sites to toss out accusations that are clearly unfounded and ridiculous.
