El Patron Cinco de Mayo Festival

This weekend, you could put on a sombrero and drink a Corona Light like a guero. Or, you could go to the best Mexican restaurant in town and enjoy the widest selection of premium tequila in the area. It is up to you, hombre.

El Patron at 66th and Folsom is one of our few establishments serving gourmet Mexican cuisine, and they will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo all weekend. With more than 40 brands and 100 different 100% agave tequilas, you owe it to yourself to enjoy a taste of real cultura Mexicana. Check out the schedule of events.

May 2 – Mariachi Los Gallos will perform from 7-10. A tequila tasting will feature Don Ramon tequila.

May 3 – More mariachi music at the same time. The event for you foodies will be a buffet selection of Culinary Seafood Creations by chef Ramiro Alarcon, graduate of Instituto Gastronomico del Valle in Mexico City. I previously attended his Presenting Mexico event, which was fantastic. Admission is $25 for food and beer from 6:30 – 10:00. I will be there, guaranteed.

May 4 – All day celebration in the parking lot starting at 11:00 AM!!! See the dancing horses! Ride the mechanical bull! Dance to banda, provided by Los Destructores del Rodeo! Live music! Bring the kids!

Cinco de Mayo – The celebration moves inside and to the outdoor patio. DJs will provide la musica. Baile!

May 4 and 5 will include drink specials featuring Dos Manos Reposado, Tres Manos Anejo and Herencia Mexicana Reposado. Tres Manos is triple distilled and triple barrel aged in imported white oak, American oak and bourbon barrels. It is delicious, with a flavor of sweet caramel and honey layered with mild oak. The real winner, however, is the Herencia, which is a traditional tequila made with agave grown in the Los Altos region of Jalisco and cooked in adobe brick ovens. It has an incredible light fruit flavor that is smooth and finishes clean.
