Danny Pommells has left KCRA

Danny PommelsI actually learned this first from the scoreboard at Raley Field yesterday: it appears Danny Pommells’ contract was not renewed at KCRA and he has left the station’s sports department. Del Rogers is going to be a one-man show at KCRA.

UPDATE: I want to be clear that from what I have heard, the reason Pommells’ contract was not picked up is that KCRA is reducing its sports staff. Del Rogers, you may want to hook up with RunnerGirl at some point before your contract is up…

News10 still has Bryan and Ryan, and of course Jim Crandell still handles things at Fox40. But after CBS13 let Arran Anderson go a few weeks ago the sports scene is looking worse than ever here in Sacramento.

  3. I understand that Kelly Chapman and Jeff James have abandon ship at CBS13 and CW31. Apparently they are heading for Utah.

    I guess, SLC is big time compared to Sactown.

  5. One thing I neglected to mention in my post is that if these stations are going to cut sports positions, they should NOT have non-sports folks doing sports. Either offer sports coverage or don’t. CBS13 had Ron Jones doing sports the other night and he was butchering the name of a well-known athlete, though I can’t remember who it was… One of the Gigantes or Athleticos I think… Like Rich O-RELL-ia or something…

    The same goes for weather I would assume, though I make a habit of completely ignoring the weather report so I wouldn’t know. Hence I’m in a tank top and shorts today… 🙂

  9. we really miss Danny Pommells, where is he now?
    That guy is right the regular newsreaders should NOT do weather or sports….
    if we want amateur we can easily do Chan 12

  10. My wife and I miss Danny. He was the true nerve center of all sports. The new night team has lost one of the best sports casters with mega personality. What a loss for KCRA.

  11. Why are you even bothering to watch the news? Just start a fan club online, and gush about your idols there. Collect and trade photos. Get the lastest gossip about where they are and what/who they are doing. Wait- did I jsut stumble into some wierd anchors fanboy site?

    I’ve never understood getting attached to an anchor. While Natalie Moralles (sp?) is awful cute, I wouldn’t notice, much less care, if she was totally gone one day.

    previous this 30 days. Skype for Online also now facilitates Chromebook
    and Linux for instant text messaging connection (no video and voice yet, all those require a connect-in installation).

    The expansion of the beta provides assistance for an extended set of different languages to assist reinforce that overseas usability

  16. I was curious if you ever considered changing the layout of
    your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
    But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it
    better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures.
    Maybe you could space it out better?
