Jimmy Kimmel Live did a funny bit about the “Great California Garage Sale” coming soon to a broke state near you.
“This is a win-win for the state and for shoppers,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement Tuesday announcing that a selection of items also would be sold on eBay and Craigslist. “Together we are eliminating waste and providing great deals in this tough economy.”
Wow. Big Scary Knives.
Can we leave negative feedback? What would yours be? Apparently their eBay approach is raising some eyebrows.
UPDATE: Items are going fast after day one.. Final sales are over 1.5 million.
I had a garage sale last weekend. I pulled in a cool $300 without trying. I think Arnold is on to something.

I stayed in line for the garage sale, was 5th in line in fact. I wanted the Bianchi bike, but found it was $500, which for an old heavy metal bike wasn’t woth it. My second choice was a grinder, but they were $90.00, too much again! I bought some bolt cutters and clamps which were a good deal. The specialized bike was #1,500, until Arnold signed it then the price went to $2,500. Someone wanted a laptop next to me in line and they didn’t buy one because they were so old and overpriced.

I also had a garage sale this weekend… I didn’t clear 3 large like amrit, but I can’t complain. We started selling our used books on amazon.com too. So far we’ve cleared $150 for our troubles and cleaned up a tiny corner of our reading room. When your bookshelves are stacked two layers deep (and you have book credit at every used bookstore in a 10 mile radius), its a sign that you might have a problem.
