Have you been to sacbee.com lately? Good grief has it become an advertising battleground. Do you remember that scene in Airplane! when Rex Kramer is trying to walk through the airport and has to fight off one activist after the other? That’s what browsing sacbee.com is like for me right now. The last straw was the “your free content will start in….” lightbox pop-up that you can’t close.
I get it, times is tough all over and you have to keep the lights on, but really? Really?
Once that annoying light box goes away, you’ll get the little hand sliding in from the side putting the post-it ad on the story you’re trying to read.
I think they have finally let the morons who comment on the stories make their business decisions now.

They are just doing the same thing as on their print version: A post in on the front page. Other pages of a wierd half size, cutting some stories off the side of the page, etc.
Their site was so good back in the mid 90s. No ads. Fast loading (being text only), and clearly laid out. Sigh…

Hey! I am one of those morons!

I’ll subscribe to the e-edition, if I know I’m going to see fewer ads and get better page loading. Might be nice if they advertised that!

I wouldn’t mind the ads if their content loaded quickly. That site is fighting myspace for the worst loading time title.

And they’re fighting Stormfront.org for the worst comments, too.

I can’t even load their pet page, sacpaws.com, on my work computer anymore. All the scrolly/flashy stuff crashes it. Nice work Sacbee!

Not 100 percent sure about this, but if you are logged in I think you get fewer of the video popup ads.
