TWF live show @ Colonial Saturday

TWF TV Champion Rob Banks

The folks behind Total Wrestling Federation are basically living the dream. Begun in Tracy in 1998 as a tribute to 1980s WWF awesomeness, TWF is now a full-fledged federation, with colorful characters, themed TV programming and live shows. If you’re into this sort of thing, then you already know about it. The whole aggro wrestling aesthetic is not my cup of tea, but I simply love living in a world where a bunch of kids can dream up TWF and make it into a worldwide phenomenon.

Saturday at the Colonial Theater you can witness a “Final Showdown” as “TWF’s Old School A**hole The Jake” takes on rookie “Maverick Kid” Erik Helm in a tag team match. Helm, who is 18, would have been in kindergarten when TWF was founded.

There will also be three championship matches, with Scorpio taking on Paulie Denali for the Heavyweight title, Johnny Blade & Jason Diamond taking on Carnie Craig & Steel Johnson for the tag team title, and TV title holder Rob Banks taking on a mystery contender.

I certainly will not be there in person, but I absolutely will be there in spirit.
