The Mentalist comes to Sacramento

the-mentalist-bigWhen I heard that the hit CBS show The Mentalist was coming to Sacramento, I immediately had high hopes for the things that he could accomplish. I imagined him strolling to the Capitol, using his mind tricks to convince our Legislators to compromise instead of sticking to hard line political goals. I saw him hypnotizing the Governor into donating $1000 to the general fund every time he blamed someone else for our budgetary failures rather than using his bully pulpit to encourage California to spend money wisely. I envisioned him using his powers of divination to foresee a Sacramento with sound levees, a bustling K street and a decent taproom downtown. I heard him calling to me in a soft, ethereal voice, “Stickie, I want to cast you in a minor supporting role in my hit television series.”

Which one is the most likely? Unfortunately, it is the last one on that list, as producers of The Mentalist are looking to cast more than 100 Sacramentans for an upcoming shoot. If you would like your shot to appear on a hit show, read on!

The production will be filming on August 13th and 14th. Those interested should send a photo, availability, and whether or not you belong to any actor’s or performer’s unions to mediacasting@hotmail.com Re: The Mentalist.

The following roles are needed:

    Thursday August 13th

1 Stand In for Lisbon (actress is Robin Tunney, 5’3″, medium dark brown hair, petite)
1 Stand In for Bosco (actor is Terry Kinney, 5’10”, balding, grayish hair, medium build)
1 Hot Dog Vendor
2 Sacramento PD (police look, 30’s, short hair, no facial hair)
8 California Bureau of Investigation Staff (government look, 28-55, 2 African American, 1 Hispanic, 5 Caucasian, 3 of those should be women. A mix of police detectives and civil employees)

    Friday August 14th

1 Stand In for Rigsby (actor is Owain Yeoman, 6’5″, brown hair, slim build, deep set eyes)
25 State Capital Background (similar to CBI look, but with some higher class folks to mix up the look a bit)
4 CHP officers (same look as Sacramento PD, but with 2 slightly older cops (no one over 45), 1 Hispanic, 1 African American)
3 Court Clerks (we will use these folks as State Capital BG first, but they should be designated specifically as court clerks)
14 Cafe customers (University crowd, business and shopping type folks, realistic mix of Sacramento ethnic breakdown, mostly mid 20’s – mid 30’s, but a percentage of other ages around that too)
16 Street Background (more miscellaneous people, varied ages and ethnicities)
2 Waitresses (early 20’s, cute, smart)
