Support Your Vets

Having had a recent pet emergency (lilies are toxic to kitties, as are many other plants and flowers, so get your fluffball urgent care, and keep flowers out of the house — out of reach is not enough, I learned), I thought I’d give a run-down on my experience with some of Ken the Katthe region’s veterinarians.

Our beloved feline is fine, thanks to the fine folks at VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center. We were referred to VCA from another VCA clinic (on Manzanita, south of Madison), and we were referred to them by the Banfield inside of Petsmart on Watt Avenue.

Here’s my take on some of the vet clinics I’ve encountered over the years:

Another Local Obsessive Fan

Sacramento’s Randy Jennings’ 15 minutes just got extended by a bit by noting on this here blog that he is featured in the June 22, 2007 issue of Entertainment Weekly.

Chosen as this issue’s “Obsessive Fan of the Week,” Randy collects Arnold Schwarzenegger memorabilia and runs an Arnold fan site.

Props to Entertainment Weekly for listing us as just “Sacramento” and not “Sacramento, CA.”

Personal upkeep for less

Most of us have things on which we’re OK spending a small fortune (running shoes & anti-aging skincare/sunscreen for me), but there are other items where we just don’t want to fork over any more money than possible.

Even though the Metro look for guys seems to be passe, guys, please feel free to chime in without feeling emasculated.

Here are a few places I’ve found where you can get quality services performed without breaking the bank: Continue reading “Personal upkeep for less”

I Heart Armstrong & Getty

If your radio dial hasn’t quite made its way to 650 on the AM, do yourself a favor and move it there between 6am-10am Monday through Friday.

Once Shawn & Jeff left the airwaves, I quickly became a convert to the Armstrong & Getty morning drive program after hearing my friend Elizabeth start virtually every sentence with, “This morning on Armstrong & Getty they were talking about…” Continue reading “I Heart Armstrong & Getty”

It’s all the rage

Most have you have probably heard by now that Sacramento ranks #8 nationally for road rage.

As someone who spends a great deal of time on the road during the average workday, this comes as no surprise to me. People tailgate, switch lanes quickly, then gun it — only to end up at the same red light as the person they were trying to pass. I know with certainty that if I leave a safe distance between me and the car ahead of me, someone will cut me off to take that space. Continue reading “It’s all the rage”

“You’re showing your Sacramento”

Once I heard this phrase tonight, I couldn’t wait to get home and write about it. It was stated by the promotions person at Marilyn’s downtown when someone who was involved in our conversation griped about having to park (gasp!) two blocks away. He said, “You’re showing your Sacramento.”

I laughed, knowing exactly what he meant. It was akin to the first time I read the tagline, “If you live here, you’ll know” at the top of the sacrag homepage.

In what ways do you or your loved ones show your Sacramento?
